It was during his time in Italy that he was exposed to the country’s ubiquitous wine culture. He quickly became fascinated by its breadth and winemaking’s delicate balance between science and artistry. Once back in the States, the topic would not leave his mind as he explored deeper and deeper into the subject. He decided to take a risk, postponing his MCAT’s and diving head-first into a harvest and was instantly hooked. Since then he has worked in both cellar and lab positions throughout Napa at Cakebread Cellars, Miner Family Winery and most recently Peter Michael Winery where he honed his skills in fine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay production. He is always continuing his education, completing UC Davis’ winemaking program and recently passing his WSET level 3 Award in Wines.
Eric joined the Williams Selyem team in 2021 and feels extremely fortunate to be able to work with such a talented and hardworking team. He enjoys having the opportunity to collaborate with such a wide range of growers, each revealing the intricacies and unique terroir of Sonoma County.
One can usually find Eric in the kitchen, where he loves to take on overly-complicated cooking projects or at the beach embracing the frigid waters of Northern California.
